A morning run before brekky
This morning I went for my hilly (150m) 10K run round Letir Fura. Fantastic sunny morning with very little cloud, lots of blue sky(e) and sea and the Cuillin rising in the distance. A nice cooling, light northeasterly kept me from overheating on the way out. It’s a superb little circuit, just the right length at 1hr 20mins (it is hilly and very steep in places on the hill track) and the views are always superb. The last climb up to the summit bench is always hard but that’s where you pop out of the forest and the Sound of Sleat and Knoydart burst upon you. Out of this world! Feel so good after this circuit. Really must do it more often.

I am so envious that you have this on your doorstep! During our stop at Glenelg two weeks ago, I made it to the of Am Bhasteir on what was like a summers day. As always at the end of a holiday in Scotland, we didn’t want to go home!

Hope you enjoyed the bad step on Am Basteir Colin!

Yes, I took a rope and sling with me and was pleased that I did. I made friends with another climber who had chickened out of it a couple of months ago, he too had a rope with him this time. Having someone else there was a great comfort. Please tell me that my final Skye Munro, Sgurr Mhic Choinnich isn’t as bad!

Boy, Alistair, that sounds like a nice route. I’m still staggering loops in the local cemetery!

Colin, Sgurr Mhic Choinnich is nowhere near as exposed as Am Basteir although it’s best to keep it for a clear day as it’s complicated route finding.
Mark, at least it will be a quiet run!

Thanks for that Alistair, it’ll be a while before I get there again especially on a good day, but at least I can now relax about it. I turned back near to the start of Collies Ledge on my last attempt because the cloud got too thick and a drizzle made for slippery rocks.

It’s less intimidating from the bealach between Mhic Choinnich and Sgurr Dearg although that means slogging up the scree from Coire Lagan.
