This is an account of a cycle trip round the big island of Hawai'i in November 2002. It's not a full camping trip, rather a luxury B&B tour of a fascinating place, supported by my wife, Dawn, in the hire car, leaving me free to ride unladen and enjoy an audax style circumnavigation of the island. It's about 250 miles round the coast roads, which is a good non stop audax but here I took it easy and spread it over 6 days of sun kissed cycling and some of the best tail winds I've ever experienced!
- Day 1 - Kailua-Kona to Waiohinu (57 miles)
- Day 2 - Waiohinu to Volcano (34 miles)
- Day 3 - Volcano to Hilo (30 miles)
- Day 4 - Hilo to HonokaĠa (42 miles)
- Day 5 - HonokaĠa to Kohala (40 miles)
- Day 6 - Kohala to Kona (60 miles)
