American folk
Freight TrainThis is the Libby Cotton version of the classic song. I don't sing on it as it would put you off!
Freight Train (2)
This is a version I got from an old Russ Shipton book and was one of the first tunes I learned. It's great for learning to 'pick alternating thumb. I've just added to it but it's still a pretty basic number but just the ticket for keeping the fingers in shape!
Various
On the runThis is another Russ Shipton learners' tune. I just think it's nice to play and very easy too. Another fingerpicking excerise really.
Ragtime
Grizzly bear ragComposed by George Botsford in the early 1900s, who also wrote "Black & White Rag", the theme from the snooker program "Pot Black". I love this tune as it's suprisingly easy to play and it's great to just shut your eyes and 'pick away!
Black & White rag
This is the theme tune from "Pot Black". Winnie Atwell does a fantastic piano version. Here, I just manage to pick through!
Shake Shugaree
Another Libby Cotton song - I don't sing it though, just pick it
British folk
Streets of LondonThe alltime classic modern folk tune, from Ralph McTell.
Angie
The brilliant Davy Graham tune. The version I play here is based on the Bert Jansch version. I only play two of the four sections on here as I still haven't mastered the slapping part!
